Ski jumping: World Ski Flying Championships: Qualification cancelled due to strong winds

At the World Ski Flying Championships in Oberstdorf the qualification was cancelled on Thursday. Strong winds at the Heini-Klopfer-Schanze made it impossible to carry out the competition.

The qualifying round will now be held on Friday at 2.30 pm before the first round of the competition.

Prior to this, at least one of the two planned rehearsals took place. The best was the Norwegian Daniel Andre Tande with a flight at 223.5 m ahead of Poland’s top star Kamil Stoch (214.5).

The German record holder Markus Eisenbichler (Siegsdorf) came sixth (215.0) as the strongest DSV eagle. Richard Freitag (Aue), who crashed heavily in the Four Hills Tournament, was ranked ninth in his comeback (209.0) and Schanzenrecord holder Andreas Wellinger (Ruhpolding) did not exceed 21st (176.5).

In Oberstdorf, two rounds of the individual decision will be held on Friday and Saturday, the world champion is determined after four jumps. On Sunday the team competition will follow (every day at 4 pm in the LIVETICKER).
