Cross-country skiing: Böhler in Planica on rank 17 – Pärmäkoski wins

Stefanie Böhler achieved the best German result at the World Cup in Planica, Slovenia, with 17th place. After ten kilometres in classic style, the 36-year-old was 1’33 “behind Krista Pärmäkoski from Finland, who celebrated her first victory in her career.

Pia Fink (Bremelau) took a surprise to 19th place. For the 22-year-old, it was the best result of her career.

Pärmäkoski won after 27:08.7 minutes just ahead of Swedish Charlotte Kalla (+3.6 seconds) and Tour de Ski winner Heidi Weng from Norway (+33.5), who maintained her lead in the overall World Cup. The other DSV starters missed the points in the absence of Nicole Fessel (Oberstdorf).

In the classic sprint on Saturday Laura Gimmler (Oberstdorf), Sandra Ringwald (Schonach-Rohrhardsberg) and Elisabeth Schicho (Schliersee) finished 17th, 26th and 27th. As in the previous year, the victory was won by the Swedish Stina Nilsson.

Until Tuesday the German Ski Association (DSV) has to nominate its team for the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. Böhler, Fessel, Ringwald and Hanna Kolb (Buchenberg) have fulfilled the standard. Schicho has achieved half the norm.
