Golf: 164,000 euros: golfer Lewis donates winning cheque for flood victims

Generous gesture by US professional golfer Stacy Lewis: The 32-year-old donated the cheque of $195,000 (€164,000) for the victims of the devastating flood disaster in Houston, Texas, following her success at the US women’s tournament in Portland/Oregon on Sunday.That’s where she and her husband have a house.

Tropical storm Harvey has caused one of the largest natural catastrophes in the USA to date.The total loss is estimated at 190 billion dollars (160 billion euros).The worst hit was Texas and the metropolis of Houston.

“We have to make sure that people can rebuild their homes.This is more important than any victory,”said Stacy Lewis, who had successfully defended the Solheim Cup with the US team at the end of August against the challengers Europe and Caroline Masson from Gladbeck.
