NHL: Thomas Vanek has a new team
Austria’s ice hockey star Thomas Vanek has a new NHL team and a contract worth millions in his pocket.
The 33-year-old signed a one-year contract with the Vancouver Canucks and is expected to collect two million dollars.Vanek comes from the Detroit Red Wings and the Florida Panthers, for which he scored 48 points in 68 games last season.
For Vanek it’s his seventh station in the NHL, he’s never been to Vancouver.Canucks manager Jim Benning was delighted:”He will support our strikers in their development.With his skills, he will help us on the ice and his exemplary behaviour will help the young players.”
The Styrian will definitely come closer to his goal of playing 1,000 NHL matches, as he is currently already holding 885.For the Canucks, the season starts on the 7th day of the season.October, when Edmonton honors the Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
