Olympia 2016: Alleged purchase of votes for Rio 2016: IOC wants enlightenment
The executive of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has reaffirmed its determination to take tough action in the event of bribery.The panel announced this on Monday after the first meeting in Lima/Peru, saying that “Where there is evidence, we will act”.
The IOC executive said that “immediate measures” had been taken in connection with the affair over a possible purchase of votes in the run-up to the 2016 Summer Games being awarded to Rio de Janeiro.Specifically, the steps taken against the former World Athletics Federation President Lamine Diack, who lost his honorary IOC membership, were mentioned.In addition, the IOC’s lawyers in Brazil would contact the authorities for further information.
