Olympia: City Council unanimously agrees to L. A. candidacy for 2028
The Los Angeles City Council unanimously approved the bid for the 2028 Olympic Games.The vote, which was based on the original application for the summer games in 2024, is a prerequisite for the Californian metropolis to host the IOC.
In addition, the US National Olympic Committee (USOC) must also confirm its support.
“This opportunity is too great, we cannot let it go,” said Council President Herb Wesson:”We will make the necessary adjustments to make these Olympic Games the most successful in the history of America.
Los Angeles had waived its candidacy for 2024 due to financial concessions by the IOC and had decided to apply for the games that followed four years later.As a result, in competition with Paris, a vote was held at the IOC session on 13 March.The French capital will be the host of the summer games after next September in Lima.
