Olympia: Will Olympia return to Germany?

The Olympic Games may return to Germany sooner than expected.Innsbruck and the Austrian Olympic Committee (ÖOC) presented a ten-point plan for an application for the 2026 Winter Games on Monday.This includes the Upper Bavarian municipality of Inzell as the venue for the speed skating competitions.

“We spoke to Inzell.The municipality has expressed an interest in the orientation”, ÖOC General Secretary Peter Mennel told SID.In Innsbruck there was no comparable ice speed skating rink, Inzell had recommended himself as a venue for the Ice Speed Skating World Championships.

The last Olympic Winter Games were held in Germany in 1936.Two applications with Munich for 2018 and 2022 were submitted to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) respectively.because of a negative citizens’ decision.
