NBA: Cavavaliers bring Kendrick Perkins back!
The Cleveland Cavaliers are bringing Kendrick Perkins back to the NBA.The 32-year-old center joins the LeBron James team initially for the training camp.Whether the veteran will make it into the squad for the 2017/18 season is questionable.
The current Eastern Conference Champion from Cleveland has already 15 guaranteed contracts on the books. To contract Perkins, who was not active in the NBA last season, a player would have to be dismissed because veterans with more than three years of experience are not allowed to sign a two-way contract.
As early as 2015, Perkins joined the Cavaliers in the final phase of the season and reached the finals against the Golden State Warriors with them. However, his role was mainly limited to that of a mentor and motivator from the bank.
In his 13-year career, Perkins scored an average of 5.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game and won the 2008 championship with the Boston Celtics.
