MLB: fibula fracture!
One week before the end of the season Relief pitcher Alex Wilson of the Detroit Tigers is already finished. The right-hander got a line drive against his leg in the 4:10 defeat against the Minnesota Twins and got a fracture.
Joe Mauer had hit a line drive at 103.8 miles per hour and the ball hit Wilson in the leg.He contracted a fracture of the fibula, but does not need surgery. The healing process should therefore only take four to six weeks.
Wilson went down right after the hit,”All I thought was that my foot felt numb,”the pitcher explained.
For Wilson, this injury isn’t the only bad news lately. On Friday, his daughter broke her collarbone. And earlier in the season, Wilson had to undergo a biopsy to remove a spot of skin cancer from his nose.
“You know, 2017 didn’t exactly treat me well. But it’s what it is.I’ll be back and ready next year,”said Wilson.
