Basketball: Dennis Schröder arrested in Atlanta

German international Dennis Schröder was arrested early Thursday morning in a suburb of Atlanta for assault.This was announced by the police in Georgia.

The 24-year-old Braunschweiger was arrested in his home town of Brookhaven and later released on bail.Details of the incident were not disclosed.

Schröder is playing for Atlanta Hawks in the Olympic city,”We have been informed of the incident Dennis is involved in,”said the Hawks on Friday in a statement,”we’re still gathering information, so we’re not currently making any further comments,” a Hawks spokesman also announced that Schröder will travel with the team to Miami for a test match on Sunday.

Dennis Schröder played 79 games for the Atlanta Hawks last season, with a point average of 17.9.In addition, there were 6.3 assists per game.It was his first season in the Hawks’ starting line-up.

At the last European Championship, Schröder had led the German team to the quarter-finals and was the outstanding player in the team of national coach Chris Fleming.The Point Guard enjoys a special role in the German team.Before the European Championship, he was able to fulfill special wishes such as an apartment in Hamburg and a car.
