There is still no solution in sight in international basketball in the conflict over the new country game windows.The clubs of the EuroLeague rejected a compromise proposal of the FIBA on Friday.

“FIBA’s proposal does not solve the biggest problems, but instead creates new difficulties,”says a statement from the royalty in club basketball.

Shortly before the start of the EuroLeague season, there is therefore no solution for the elimination of international players for the World Cup qualification.In the conflict over the new country match windows, FIBA had offered to postpone the World Cup qualifiers from November to February from Thursday to Friday.

The EuroLeague would then have been able to play its matches scheduled for Thursday and Friday on the previous Tuesday.

If there is no solution, the conflict would mean that the national teams – or EuroLeague participants – would lack a large number of professionals.

The German Basketball Association (DBB) and the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) had welcomed FIBA’s suggestion:”This is an absolutely constructive and healthy compromise that is perfectly acceptable for both sides, the FIBA and the ECA,”said DBB Secretary General Wolfgang Brenscheidt last week.

The proposed solution would have meant that EuroLeague clubs’ international players would be in action three times a week.From a German point of view in the first window on the 21st (EuroLeague), 24.and 27.November (national team).
