MLB: Ryu not in the NLDS squad of the Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers have set their rotation for the National League Division Series. As a result, it became known that L. A.left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu in the series. He’s not in the squad.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has decided that Lefty Alex Wood would start a possible game 4 against the Arizona Diamondbacks.Wood was 16-3 this year with a 2.72 ERA in a season in which he was voted into the All-Star team of the NL.
“If there was a Game 4, Alex Wood would start it,”Roberts told reporters.Conversely, for Ryu there is no room in the 25-player squad for the series. He was 5-9 this year with a 3.77 ERA.
The starters for the first three games are Clayton Kershaw, Rich Hill and Yu Darvish. And since Kershaw would also pitch a decisive game 5, Ryu would only have one role in the bullpen. However, the Korean has only made a relief appearance in his career.
“Although he has played a great season, he would only be able to play a role in the Bullpen, but he doesn’t feel comfortable with it,”Roberts explained the decision. However, Ryu will travel to Arizona in case a pitcher is injured and has to step in – in case of an injury, the squad can be adjusted with the permission of the MLB.
