NBA: Media: Raptors bind Powell in the long term
Good news for the Toronto Raptors.Norman Powell has signed a contract extension agreement, according to media reports. The 46th.Pick der Draft from 2015 is thus tied to the Canadians for another four years.
This was reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.Accordingly, the Guard will receive 42 million dollars over four years from 2018, when the new treaty comes into force. The fourth year includes a player option.
Powell would have become a Restricted Free Agent in the summer of 2018.The Raptors could have gone along with every offer, but this could have been much more expensive. The extension must be made official until the start of the season. This is the deadline for the rookie extensions.
For Toronto, this extension is an important building block for the future.Powell developed into a good two-way guard over the past two years and still has room to grow.It is expected that the 24-year-old will play an important role in the rotation of the Raptors this season.
