MLB: Derek Jeter gets official from the Yankees
CEO Derek Jeter has begun to restructure the Miami Marlins Front Office.On Tuesday, the ex-shortstop announced Gary Denbo’s appointment as Vice President of Scouting and Player Development.Denbo’s coming from Jeter’s former team.
Denbo will review the development of the players and the scouting of amateur players.Prior to that, he spent eight years with the New York Yankees, where he worked in various roles, including Vice President of Player Development for the last three years.There he was responsible for a farm system that is now one of the best in baseball.
Jeter, on the other hand, has known Denbo since his Minor League days in the early 1990s.Denbo was a coach in the Yankee farm system at the time, the only organization that Jeter played for in the MLB.Denbo also worked for the Cleveland Indians and Toronto Blue Jays.
Since last week, Jeter and majority shareholder Bruce Sherman have officially appointed Jeter as the new owner and CEO of Miami Marlins.
