MLB: Cubs Survive Thriller in D. C.

The Chicago Cubs have won game 5 of the National League Division Series at Washington Nationals 9-8 and are back in the NLCS.Both teams had to go on a wild roller coaster ride with many shortcomings, questionable manoeuvres of the managers and several pitchers. For Washington and manager Dusty Baker, this continues to be a bad show.

After the Cubs had taken the lead early on, the hosts exploded with four runs in the second inning. But Chicago turned the match a little later, against the substitute pitching Ace of the Nationals, Max Scherzer. So then Washington tried everything to get there, but Chicago always found the right answer.

All this culminated in the longest outing of Closer Wade Davis, who brought a shaky but happy end to the Cubs’ bullpen chaos by securing the last seven outs of the game and once again taking the clubs to the National League Division Series. The last out was a strikeout against superstar Bryce Harper.

The Nationals and Dusty Baker, on the other hand, once again looked into the tube and continued two gruesome negative series.

The Cubs will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers.Match 1 of the series will rise on Saturday at the Dodger Stadium of Los Angeles.Whoever gets the ball for Chicago, however, is still standing in the stars after this number.

ALDS, game 5: Washington Nationals – Chicago Cubs 8:9 BOXSCORE

The Nationals were pushing hard in the sixth and seventh inning, so Maddon needed three pitcher to get through the frame.Carl Edwards Jr.distributed a walk and was replaced directly, Jose Quintana gave the Cubs two outs and made a run, and then Closer Wade Davis came and saw Zimmerman face each other with two outs and runners on the corners at 9:7.But Davis stayed cool and struck out after three pitches against the top RBI guy of the Nats.

With a 4:3 lead in the back, Dusty Baker brought his pitching Ace Max Scherzer, the starter from Match 3.The right-handed man started strongly and made both Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo sovereign. But then his outing went rapidly down the drain. He admitted three hits in series and suddenly it was 5:4 for Chicago. There followed another passed-ball run and a hit-by-pitch from Jon Jay at Bases Loaded. It was 7:4 when Scherzer finished the inning.

The shortstop made a really good game in secret, quietly and quietly.Defensively he didn’t let anything burn and Russell led the Cubs with four RBIs and was 2-4 with a walk and a run.

Rarely have there been so many deficiencies of both teams in the pitching area to marvel at as in this game. Both pitching staffs distributed 15 walks and played 23 hits. And the fact that the Cubs ultimately held their lead was not due to pitching, but rather to Contreras’ pick off at the first base or bad hitting – just think of Adam Linds double play with no out and after two walks on the first pitch in the eighth inning.
