MLB: Chicago Cubs’ World Series Ring will not be auctioned off
An official 2016 World Series Season ring, originally abandoned for auction, has been withdrawn from the market at the request of the Chicago Cubs. This was announced by the supplier Leland’s Auctions on Monday.
The auction house referred to a request by the Cubs, who applied for the cancellation of the auction on the basis of “contractual details”.A Cubs spokesman, Julian Green, admitted that the team worked with Leland’s to verify the authenticity of the ring.
“We found out who was going to auction the ring in the meantime,”said Green,”He doesn’t work for us anymore. Our employees are contractually prohibited from selling the ring” The auction was anonymously abandoned, it is still not known who was going to sell it.However, it is said to be a former scout of the Cubbies.
The ring is set with 214 diamonds weighing 5.5 carats. The Chicago Cubs ended a 108-year thirsty period of untitled thirst with last year’s World Series win.
