NFL: Raiders commit NaVorro Bowman
The Oakland Raiders have reached an agreement with NaVorro Bowman: the linebacker, who was unexpectedly dismissed by the San Francisco 49ers, signed for a year in Oakland.
Just a few days ago, San Francisco broke up with Bowman, and the Niners are said to have given up a possible trade in order to give Bowman free rein in their search for a new team.Bowman made this choice on Monday.
According to NFL network insider Ian Rapoport, Bowman and the Raiders have agreed on a one-year $3 million contract. The experienced athletic was told by the veteran:”I’m only 29 years old and still have a lot of fuel in my tank. We’re at 2-4, I look forward to the challenge, and I think the boys are doing just as well.”
Bowman would have met with the Dallas Cowboys this week if no agreement had been reached with the Raiders. However, the deal makes a lot of sense for both sides: Bowman doesn’t have to change his place of residence and now plays for a team with Contender claims, while at the same time the linebacker corps was clearly the weakest part of this raider team.Especially as a Run-Defender Bowman Oakland should make Oakland better immediately.
