Shortly before the start of the season, Richard Jefferson was hauled by the Cleveland Cavaliers, who needed a free place in the squad.But it almost came much earlier.

Jefferson had won the title with the Cavaliers in 2016 and then announced that he wanted to end his career.But he extended it by another year.After the Cavs gave him up, he was fired by the Hawks and then hired for another season on the nuggets.

But things could have been quite different: Jefferson almost had been traded in the summer of 2016.The reason: He published the design of the Cleveland championship rings at Snapchat before the team wanted to release them.The GM David Griffin, then, is said to have foamed with rage, as ESPN reporter Dave McMenamin reports.

Griffin wanted to trade Jefferson – but the veteran was lucky: Since he had signed a new deal, Cleveland would not have had him until the 15th minute.December.Until then, however, Griffin had calmed down and accepted Jefferson’s apology.
