DEL: Nuremberg wins former NHL striker Mitchell

The Nuremberg Ice Tigers bring long-time NHL striker John Mitchell to the DEL. The 32-year-old Canadian gets a contract with the runner-up of the standings until the end of the season.
Mitchell has played a total of 566 games for Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers and Colorado Avalanche in the North American professional league NHL since the 2008/09 season, including playoffs. Most recently, the center was on ice for the Cleveland Monsters from the American Hockey League (AHL).
“John is an experienced midfielder who has his strengths in both the defensive and offensive. He fits very well into our team with his playing style and will also help us outnumbered and undernumbered,”said Nuremberg’s sports director Martin Jiranek.
