Alpine Skiing: World Cup kick-off into the 2017/18 Olympic season

Snow, sun, good temperatures! All signs point to spectacle and great sport, when the Alpine Skiing Circus will be held on 28. and 29. October in Sölden starts the Olympic season 2017/18. The many fresh snowfall around the Sölden region provides perfect conditions for the 2017 Ski World Cup opening. SPOX will provide you with information about the start of the season as well as the LIVETICKER on Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 am.

“If you had written a diary, it couldn’t have been better,”Isidor Grüner, head of the route, told the Austrian courier. The forecast for the new snowfall in Sölden is good weather for the weekend, so that nothing stands in the way of a successful start.

At the end of the steep slope, an artificial wave was installed at the end of the steep slope, shortening the long flat section to the finish line. Here it’s time to record speed again.

The starting times for the first runs in the giant slalom of the ladies (Saturday) and men (Sunday) were fixed at 10.00 and the final runs start at 1 pm. For the men’s race on Sunday, however, it is already CET, i. e. winter time (normal time) instead of CEST. The clocks are turned back on Sunday at 3.00 o’ clock in the morning to 2.00 o’ clock.

“It’s time to get started,”says Felix Neureuther in advance. The 33-year-old technology specialist’s goal is to be in top shape by December at the latest when the season is slowly entering its decisive phase. In 2018, Neureuther will finally win the long-awaited Olympic medal in South Korea and cast his Olympic curse aside for ever, even if he has expressed criticism about the games and the IOC in advance.

Felix Neureuther and biathlete Miriam Gössner were able to celebrate their first year of life in October together with their biathlete Miriam Gössner. This daddy feeling is incredibly intense, almost indescribable,”said Neureuther Sport 1.

However, Neureuther denied rumours of an early end to his career when he told the dpa about his future:”It is possible that I will only continue in the slalom and drive for two, three or four years.”

In Sölden, however, it starts in giant slalom. The fans of the ÖSV in particular will probably miss two prominent names at the opener in Sölden: Marcel Hirscher suffered a break in his ankle in mid-August during training and will definitely miss the first race. However, there is already good news: the healing process is faster than expected and the Dominator of the last few years can already stand on skis again.

At the end of February, the two-time overall World Cup winner Anna Veith (formerly Fenninger) underwent a knee operation:”Soelden and Levi are definitely not an issue that will not go away,”said 28-year-old Laola1. Nevertheless, she wants to start again in the speed disciplines in December.

Last year’s winner Lara Gut, Aksel Lund Svindal and the US ski superstar Lindsey Vonn will also be missing. As in the last few years, Vonn has abandoned the kick-off in Sölden and is concentrating entirely on the speed competitions, which start on the first weekend of December in Lake Louise (Canada).
