NFL: Seahawks get Dwight Freeney
The Seattle Seahawks had to take action following the injuries of Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett – and found a very good interim solution. Dwight Freeney and the Hawks reached an agreement on Tuesday.
This is reported by several sources, including the NFL Network. Freeney has been a Free Agent since the end of last season, but so far it has been quiet around the 37-year-old.
However, since Seattle is expected to miss Avril for the remainder of the season and Bennett for the time being, the Seahawks’ routine should be an immediate reinforcement.
Over the past two years, Freeney has given itself the luxury of selecting potential Contender teams and taking the time to do so. In 2015, he signed with the Arizona Cardinals and collected eight sacks in eleven regular-season games, helping the Atlanta Falcons move into the Super Bowl in the early season.
Altogether Freeney stands in the regular season at 122.5 bags. Seattle will meet Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans on Sunday.
