Golf: Woods escapes prison
Golf superstar Tiger Woods has pleaded guilty before a court in Palm Beach on charges of reckless driving. If the 41-year-old does not have to make any further mistakes during a one-year probation period, he does not have to go to jail. This was confirmed by the prosecutor in Florida on Friday.
Woods was on 29. The police had found a police patrol asleep at the wheel of his damaged vehicle near his property in Jupiter, Florida, on the night of May 5. The once world’s best golfer had justified his condition with a violent reaction to medication. In the main charge “DUI” (Driving Under Influence) he had pleaded not guilty.
Woods has to pay a fine of 215 euros, pay 50 hours of social service and participate in a driver training. This was confirmed by Dave Aronberg, public prosecutor of the French news agency AFP. Woods had been “quiet” during the hearing, Aronberg said.
