Golf: Golf: Johnson lost in Shanghai safely believed victory
World number one Dustin Johnson (USA) has missed the victory at the World Golf Championship in Shanghai at the final round.
Johnson, who led the $9.75 million tournament by six strokes, only played a 77 on the par-72 course and was beaten by Olympic champion Justin Rose (England/274) with 276 strokes. Rose played a 67 at the end.
“This victory is very, very satisfying. It’s been a long time since I won. At least that’s how it feels,”said Rose, who was fourth eight strokes behind the leader at the start of the final round,”It’s incredible. We all know what position he was in. Today was a day that no one wants to lead.”
Johnson himself was disappointed, of course,”Nothing went in the hole. I never really got into the game and didn’t sink putts. It’s that simple,”said the 33-year-old. German players had not qualified for the tournament.
