MLB: Explosion in the ninth!

The Los Angeles Dodgers have won World Series game 4 at Houston Astros 6-2, equalizing the 2-2 series. After both starting pitcher were able to convince for a long time, only the ninth innings with both closers on the Mound brought the decision. Los Angeles’ super-rookie finally made the difference.

Game 4 saw the duel of right-handed Charlie Morton for the hosts and Lefty Alex Wood for the Dodgers. Both knew how to convince, but Wood only made his first hit – and run – with two outs in the sixth inning. George Springer beat the home run 1-0 for the hosts.

The guests did not strike back until the seventh inning, but still against Morton. Cody Bellinger came to Base by double and then scored the equaliser himself as a result of an RBI singles by Logan Forsythe. The game then remained undecided until the ninth inning.

Then Houston bet on Closer Ken Giles, who couldn’t get an out, instead gave an RBI double to Bellinger. Afterwards Joe Musgrove took over and lost the match: After a Sacrifice Fly for Austin Barnes, he allowed a 3-Run-Homerun against Joc Pederson.

The series is thus balanced and starts anew in Spiel 5 on Monday night (from 1 o’ clock in the LIVESTREAM FOR FREE on SPOX). The Astros send left-handed Dallas Kershaw to the Mound, the Dodgers rely on superstar Clayton Kershaw in the fight for the first match point of the series.

World Series, game 4: Houston Astros – Los Angeles Dodgers 2:6 – series: 2-2 BOXSCORE

In the ninth inning, both managers bet on their respective closers. Since it was 1:1 at the start of the innings, it was not a save situation for Giles, but the pressure was probably similar. Giles gave up the lead and Jansen stayed on top of the field and played a decisive role in the victory.

How could it be otherwise? The match was even until the ninth inning, then the Dodgers in their perhaps best offensive inning for days ensured the decision. Five runs against Giles and then Musgrove made the difference, as Jansen (IP, ER) did his thing and brought the story home.

He’s back again! The super-rookie had no hit in the series before game 4. But then he beat a 1-out double in the seventh inning, and then he scored the 1-1 equalization himself. And then he beat the RBI double to a 2-1 lead in the ninth inning. His phase of weakness in the first three games was a problem for L. A., but now Bellinger is back and the Dodgers’ offensive.

Life is hard! Especially for a fainting closer who never got the confidence to trust when his core competency, quitting games, was in demand. Now he was supposed to keep the game open in the ninth, but he didn’t succeed at all. He faced two Hitters and both came to Base (H, BB). Then he admitted Bellinger’s RBI double, the L. A. and finished the evening for Giles early (0 IP, 2 H, 3 ER) and this outing might have to be discussed later.
