The long-standing chairman of the players’ union, Marvin Miller, as well as Dale Murphy, Dave Parker, Luis Tiant, Jack Morris, Ted Simmons and Alam Trammell are also standing for election. The players had previously failed in the traditional choice of the Baseball Writers Association of America.
