NBA: EC for Schröder “Training in Team Leadership”.
This year’s European Championships have helped national team member Dennis Schröder to advance his development in the NBA:”It was a good training opportunity in team leadership,”said Atlanta Hawks’ playmaker for the Rheinische Post.
The challenge during the EuroBasket, in which Schröder and the German team made it to the quarter-finals, was a completely different one than in everyday life.
“The European Championship is played at a high level, but the NBA is the best league in the world. Playing as a leader is something else.”
The 24-year-old is delighted that there are now five German NBA professionals. In the USA, there is a great deal of interest in young people from home.
“Many scouts here ask me about the young players in Germany,” said Schröder:”This is a sign that German basketball is growing in the right direction.
The debates about his arrest in Atlanta and the special requests at the European Championship did not pass Schröder without a trace.
“When things are going well, everyone celebrates you, when they make mistakes, they drop you fast. I’ve learned not to let myself be influenced by public excitement.”
