MLB: Anthopolous new strong man of the Braves
The conversion of the Atlanta Braves front office has been completed. On Monday, the team announced Alex Anthopolous’ commitment as a new strong man. At the same time, the former team president was deprived of power.
Anthopolous, who previously worked in the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays organizations, will become the team’s new General Manager. At the same time, he will be named Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations and will have autonomy over the entire sporting area of the Braves.
The former team president, John Hart, on the other hand, has been relieved of his office and will only serve as a senior advisor in the future. This was announced by Chairman Terry McGuirk at a press conference. Hart was not present.
“Alex stands for integrity and will operate in a way that will make each of our Braves fans proud,”McGuirk praised his new GM.
Anthopolous’ first official act will be the trip to Orlando/Florida, where he will represent the Braves at the GM meetings. For the last two years, he was Vice President of Baseball Operations at the Dodgers, prior to which he worked for six years as GM of the Blue Jays.
He succeeds John Coppolella, who took over from John Coppolella on 2 January.
