NFL: Season out for further Redskins Running Back
The Washington Redskins have lost another key player. During the overtime bankruptcy in New Orleans in Week 11, Running Back Chris Thompson took his fibula and had to be operated on.
In the third quarter, Thompson suffered a deep injury in his own half and then had to be transported away. After the match, head coach Jay Gruden then announced the diagnosis, which will cost Thompson the rest of the season.
Thompson was an important part of the Redskins-Offense and was deeply involved both in the running game (60 Carries, 277 Yards, 2 Touchdowns) and in the passing game, which he led with 38 Receptions (494 YDS, 3 TD).
Without Thompson, the offense will look different. After his defeat against the Saints, quarterback Kirk Cousins completed ten out of 15 passes and reached five different receivers. Last week, the team already put Rob Kelley, another Running Back, on the Injured reserve list.
