NHL: Winter Classic 2019: Chicago meets Boston

The Chicago Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins contest the Winter Classic 2019 in the NHL. The game on the 1. January will take place in the 80,000 spectators of the Notre Dame Stadium in the US state of Indiana. This was announced by the NHL.

“The Blackhawks and Bruins, two of the historic franchises, will face each other for the first time outdoors in Winter Classic,”said NHL commissioner Gary Bettman.

For Chicago, this is the fourth outing for a Winter Classic, with three defeats so far in 2009,2015 and 2017. Boston will be in for the third time, with a win (2010) and a loss (2016).

The open-air game has been held regularly since 2008. On New Year’s Day 2018, the Buffalo Sabres and the New York Rangers face each other in New York.
