DEL: Coach Draisaitl wins bitter defeat for the first time

Peter Draisaitl had a bitter defeat in the DEL at his debut as coach of the Cologne sharks. Although the team of the former international had meanwhile clearly led the Domstädter lost at the Iserlohn Roosters after penalty shooting with 4:5 (3:1,1:1,0:2,0:0,0:0,0:1).

Cologne remains ninth with 31 points, Iserlohn jumped to seventh place.

Blaine Down scored the decisive goal for Iserlohn. Nickolas Latta had led the Cologne team, and former NHL player Ryan Jones, Sebastian Uvira and Fredrik Eriksson followed suit.

For Iserlohn, Travis Turnbull, Kevin Schmidt, Johannes Salmonsson and Marko Friedrich met.

The Eisbären Berlin triumphed at the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven with 4:1 (1:0,2:1,1:0) and ousted the Nuremberg Ice Tigers (both 48) from second place.

The polar bears are only one point behind the German champion Red Bull Munich.

The Grizzlys Wolfsburg beat their neighbours Schwenninger Wild Wings 2-0 (0-0,0-0,2-0) and won their fifth consecutive away win. Wolfsburg remains fourth with 40 points, Schwenningen remains fifth.

Straubing Tigers lost 2:3 (0:0,0:2,2:1) at the Düsseldorf EC. Lower Bavaria are now six points behind Krefeld Penguins in 13th place, Düsseldorf climbed to tenth place.
