NHL: Strong Draisaitl convinces in Oilers victory
Leon Draisaitl led the Edmonton Oilers to an important victory in the NHL. The Canadians won 4-2 on Sunday at the Boston Bruins, Draisaitl’s 4-2 lead and one goal in the final period were crucial to their success. Previously, the Canadians had failed to win four out of five games.
Oilers coach Todd McLellan had responded to the latest results with a rearrangement of his attack, Draisaitl was on ice with Ryan Strome and Drake Caggiula. In the last third, the native of Cologne first prepared the 3:2 by electricity, shortly before the final siren he then hit the empty goal himself.
“He has a very good view of the ice,”said team mate Strome afterwards about Draisaitl,”I’ve never actually played with a center with these skills. The way Leon pulls up the game is pretty special.”
According to coach McLellan, Draisaitl played better on Sunday than in some of the previous games:”He was on the road a lot today. Often he does the pathways for himself, but today he has also run for his team mates and created open spaces. Edmonton, however, is still the penultimate of the Western Conference with only 20 points.
