MLB: San Francisco Giants meet with representatives of Giancarlo Stanton

According to media reports, representatives of the San Francisco Giants and National League MVP Giancarlo Stanton met in Los Angeles to discuss a possible trade for the Miami Marlins outfielder. His current team agreed to the meeting.

Is the trade negotiations for Stanton getting under way? It seems so, because according to SiriusXM Radio’s Craig Mish, front-office members of the Giants met with agents from Stanton to see if Stanton was willing to agree to trade in the Bay Area. Stanton has a no-trade clause and can block transfers to any team of the MLB.

A meeting of this kind can only take place if the current team agrees, otherwise it would be a violation of the League’s manipulation rules.

Rumor has it that the Giants are willing to send Second Baseman Joe Panic and two top prospects to Florida. In return, they would take over 250 of the outstanding $295 million from Stanton’s contract. The record deal runs until the end of 2027. However, Stanton has an exit clause after the 2020 season.

In the race for Stanton, the Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Stephen are expected to continue. Louis Cardinals, whereas the Dodgers have doubts about extending their already considerable payroll even higher. They are already paying the League’s highest possible luxury tax rate.
