Olympia: Doping: Earlier Sprinter Bailey banned for two years
Due to a doping offence, the former 100 m sprinter and today’s bobsleigh pusher Ryan Bailey (USA) will be banned for two years and therefore cannot compete at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang (9th place). till 25. February).
This was announced by the International Sports Court CAS on Friday, confirming a request by the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
Bailey, who finished fourth in the London 2012 Summer Games over 100m in fourth place, was on the 10th position at a European Championships. In addition, the ingestion of the banned substance dimethylbutylamine was detected in a sample taken on 1 January. The former sprinter explained the positive findings by taking a dietary supplement.
As a result, in July 2017, the U. S. AAA had retroactively suspended him for six months. The USADA appealed against this decision to CAS. According to the USADA, Bailey’s case is a doping offence that must be sanctioned with the usual two-year ban. The CAS confirmed that the USADA was right.
Bailey had achieved good results this winter as Nick Cunningham’s lead in the World Cup and was regarded as a sure candidate for the Olympics. Most recently, the duo finished fourth at the World Cup in Lake Placid.
