NFL: Cleveland Browns fire VP Sashi Brown
The Cleveland Browns have reacted to their continuing sporting decline and parted company with General Manager Sashi Brown, who had been responsible for the sporting decisions in the front office for almost two years. Head coach Hue Jackson, on the other hand, continues to sit safely in the saddle.
Brown is very grateful for his work so far, said Brown’s owner Jimmy Haslam in a statement. But:”The Draft 2018 and the Offseason are of enormous importance for our franchise. We have to make sure that we make the most of our opportunities, in our picks, the Free Agency and the development of our roster,”he says,” we are already looking for a successor.
Brown, who held the position of GM and Vice President of Football Operations, with full responsibility for the team’s sporting interests, had not taken up this role until January 2016. In order to finally lead the Browns back to success, he had designed his strategy for analytics and accumulated a lot of additional draft picks.
However, Brown in the draft had let some stars slip through, among them the quarterbacks Carson Wentz and Deshaun Watson. Meanwhile, the athletic downswing continued unabated: At the moment, the brews stand at 0-12, of the last 28 games, only one has been won.
Head coach Hue Jackson will continue to support the team in the coming season and will return for the 2018 season,”Haslam said. In his view, the front office is apparently to blame for the sporting misery.
