MLB: Tigers engage pitcher Mike Fiers from Astros
The Detroit Tigers signed Mike Fiers. The right-hander comes from champion Houston Astros and signs a one-year contract.
Fiers had led the 2017 Astros with 153 1/3 innings, but was not even appointed to the squad in the postseason. According to an ESPN report, he’s being paid a salary of six million dollars,
In his career to date, the 32-year-old is 42-47 with a 4.14 ERA for the Milwaukee Brewers and Astros. Fiers became a Free Agent the week before, as the Astros had not offered him a new contract.
ESPN reports that the Baltimore Orioles were also interested in the starter and even offered him a two-year contract.
For the Tigers, Fiers is the second new addition to Outfielder Leonys Martin, who also signed a one-year contract on Tuesday.
