NFL, Los Angeles Rams, Greg Zuerlein: Los Angeles Rams Place Pro Bowler on IR List

The Los Angeles Rams 10-4 have to do without one of the best kickers in the league for the rest of the season. Greg Zuerlein’s performances helped him to be nominated for the Pro Bowl. But he will miss it due to a back injury.

Zuerlein was placed on the Injured Reserve List by the Rams due to a herniated disc. He’s scheduled for surgery on Thursday morning in Los Angeles. The team confirmed on Wednesday that they hired Sam to replace Ficken.

Zuerlein leads the league in scored field goals (38) and PATs (44), but most recently played under sustained back pain. With his 158 points scored so far, he was well on his way to overtaking former Eagles kicker David Akers in the eternal ranking for points scored. Akers scored 166 points in 2011.

Next weekend, the Rams will have the chance to secure a play-off place for the first time in 13 years.
