Cycling: After the Sagan case: Video evidence also comes in cycling

After football, cycling also receives video evidence. As a result of Peter Sagan’s case at the Tour de France 2017, the UCI will be working with screen judges in the major races, including the three Grand Tour, Giro and Vuelta, starting next season. This was reported by the Belgian daily Het Nieuwsblad.

Four commissioners from the leading cycling nations France, Italy, Spain and Belgium were selected by the UCI for the 2018 season. One of them will act as a video referee for the regular jury and will examine questionable scenes in a mobile control room.

Road World Champion Peter Sagan (Slovakia) from the German team Bora-hansgrohe was excluded from the race after a collision with Mark Cavendish from the British team. It was only in December that the UCI and Bora settled their dispute over this sentence before the International Sports Court CAS, the crash was now also considered a normal racing accident by the UCI.
