NHL: Goal and template for Kühnhackl – Lose Oilers
Tom Kühnhackl shone with a goal and a 5-1 defeat from Pittsburgh Penguins rival Philadelphia Flyers. Leon Draisaitl and the Edmonton Oilers have been given a lesson.
Defending champions Pittsburgh regained 44 points in the East after halfway through the regular season – thanks in part to the 25-year-old Kühnhackl, who played the 2-1 for Ryan Reaves in the middle section and scored a decisive 4-1 win with his second goal only two minutes later.
Edmonton, on the other hand, showed a very weak picture in the last third due to a lack of discipline and four goals conceded. After the fourth consecutive defeat, the playoffs for the Oilers, who are the second-worst team of the Western Conference with 37 points, are moving further and further away.
“Oilers-headcoach Todd McLellan argued:” We’ve made many, many mistakes.”
Nationalkeeper Thomas Greiss experienced from the bench how his New York Islanders lost 5-1 to the Boston Bruins. Club mate Dennis Seidenberg was not in the squad in a duel with his ex-club, with whom he won the Stanley Cup in 2011.
Goalie Philipp Grubauer followed the 5:4 after the extension of the Washington Capitals at the Carolina Hurricanes, and Korbinian Holzer celebrated a 5:0 win at the Vancouver Canucks with the Anaheim Ducks.
