NBA: Irving saying goodbye to the Cavaliers:”Unavoidable.”

Before the duel with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night (at 2:00 a. m. live on DAZN), Kyrie Irving spoke to ESPN in detail about his summer trade.

Irving had asked the Cavaliers for a trade this summer because he was looking for a new challenge. “Farewell was inevitable,”Irving explained,”I could feel it.”

Irving’s trade claim surprised many observers in the league this summer, especially since the Cavs are once again the favourites for a final appearance this season. Cleveland, however, had already been holding loose discussions with other teams about a trade of the Point Guard weeks before, as the report reveals.

“I didn’t feel I had to say anything because I knew the truth and she did. That’s why I didn’t care what the others said,”said Irving, who now made it clear:”They didn’t want me there.”

Among other things, a three-team deal was said to have taken place, in which Irving would have come to Phoenix and Eric Bledsoe and Paul George to Cleveland. These talks came to a halt, however, after former Cavs-GM David Griffin resigned from office in mid-June.

Ultimately, Irving ended up in Boston, in a situation that looked promising to him,”But there’s a misperception of how it all went,”Irving said,”I was traded to Boston. I had no control over where I landed.”

Irving and Celtics took first place in the Eastern Conference ahead of Cleveland with a 30-10 record.
