On paper, the Steelers are the favourites for a duel with the Jaguars. They’re the number two seed of the AFC, the Jaguars number three. As a result, the Steelers were out of play last week, while the Jaguars had scored a tight 10-3 win against the Buffalo Bills in the Wildcard Round.
Both teams already met in the regular season. At that time, the Jaguars won 30:9 in Heinz Field and underscored their status as one of the best defensive lines in the league. They forced superstar quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to five interceptions and held Pittsburgh on three field goals by kicker Chris Boswell.
At that time only Wide Receiver Antonio Brown reached normal form on the part of the Steelers and brought it to ten receivers for 157 yards. That same Brown missed the last few weeks with a calf injury as a spectator, but is supposed to be fit again and will play.
For the Jaguars, one wonders whether Quarterback Blake Bortles, who scored more yards on the ground (88) against Buffalo than in the air (87), will be able to pass better. Ober has to take the defense unit out of the fire in the end?
