US-Sport: College-Basketball live on DAZN: All information about the NCAA in a live stream

The college basketball season is picking up speed and the big NCAA Tournament, the March Madness, is already in sight. Just in time for the hot phase, DAZN is back at the start and broadcasts three NCAA games every week. SPOX provides details and gives an insight into college basketball.

Since the beginning of November, the current basketball championship has been held under the umbrella of the National College Athletes’ Association, where over 300 universities compete for the title. From a German point of view, we must pay attention to Moritz Wagner, who caused a stir last season with Michigan Wolverines. DAZN now broadcasts three NCAA games live every week.

From now on, all DAZN-User College Basketball users can experience firsthand. The streaming service now offers college basketball from the States as a live stream. Up to three matches per week can be watched live on DAZN. The March Madness can also be seen in the live stream on DAZN.

DAZN is the “Netflix of Sports”. In addition to the NCAA, NBA, NHL, NFL and MLB sports games will also be shown in the live stream. There are also selected games from college football.

The top European football leagues from England, France, Italy and Spain will also be shown live on DAZN. In addition, the highlights of the Bundesliga can be called up 40 minutes after the final whistle. DAZN costs €9.99 per month after a free trial month and can be cancelled at any time on a monthly basis.

As with the other popular sports in the USA, the organization in college basketball looks different than in Germany. Sport is primarily practised in high schools or universities. If you want to become a professional athlete, there is no way around a university or high school. These schools/universities provide their own teams, which intensively support the prospective competitive athletes.

At the NCAA, around 350 colleges from 32 conferences will compete for the NCAA Tournament, also known as “March Madness”. At the beginning of the season there will be matches against teams from other conferences, from January on only teams from the own conference will duel.

In contrast to European basketball or NBA, NCAA is played twice 20 minutes. The shot clock is also raised to 30 seconds.

The NCAA Tournament is also called March Madness. It is the tournament in which the National Champion is played. Here the best 68 teams in the knockout system compete against each other. Unlike the NBA, in which the winner of a best-of-seven series progresses one round, there is only one final game.

This increases the probability that even underdogs can stay in the tournament longer than originally expected. In the USA, the March Madness has an immense attention and ensures extremely high TV ratings.

The tournament traditionally starts with the First Four. In this round, an additional place in the main field is played for each region. The 64 remaining teams will then start in the first round and fight their way to the final four.

Like almost every year, former national coach Mike Krzyzewski’s Duke Blue Devils go into the season as a top favourite. Prior to the season, Coach K’s team has strengthened with many outstanding newcomers, including Marvin Bagley, to claim the first title since 2015.

Arch rival and defending champion North Carolina Tar Heels will try to make Duke’s life as difficult as possible. However, with a few retires, it is doubtful whether Michael Jordan’s college team will make it back to the final four.

The Michigan State Spartans with the German Gavin Schilling and top star Miles Bridges are among the favourites. The traditional teams Arizona Wildcats, Kansas Jayhawks and Villanova Wildcats are also favourites for the championship.
