Handball European Championship: DHB squad: mentality monsters and greenhorns

The DHB team, with two world-class goalkeepers, is excellently positioned between the posts and is thus also at the forefront of international comparison. In the European Championship squad for Croatia Heinevetter is the player with the most international matches on the hump. However, the Berliner 2016 Carsten Lichtlein, however, had to give way to Carsten Lichtlein and was not part of Poland’s coup.

Heinevetter is one of the goalkeepers who can run hot and decide on their own. In the final tests against Iceland, the former Magdeburg player made a strong impression, while “Heine” often played solidly for the foxes in the current season, but rarely outstanding. With a quota of 27.02 percent of balls held, he ranks 33rd in the HBL goalkeeper’s ranking in no-man’s land.

Wolff ranks fourth in this statistic with 34.77 percent of balls held. Since his move to Poland’s top club Kielce has been confirmed (it will follow in 2019 at the latest), after months of quarrelling with the THW, he is now at a standstill.

Since 2016, the whole of Germany has known what the man from the Rhineland can do. Wolff is a real winner and with his mad parades he was one of the most important factors for winning the title at the European Championships in Poland.

Gensheimer is beyond all doubt. The DHB captain is “the clear leader” of the team, as Kai Häfner explained in a conversation with SPOX. For many experts, Gensheimer, who is set as a seven-metre marksman for the time being, is the best left wing of the world.

So it’s no wonder that Prokop starts the tournament with only one nominal left wing. If Gensheimer stays fit, he will more or less play through. In the past, Gensheimer has proved that this is not a problem for him in terms of strength, not only in the national team but also at PSG.
