NHL: Oilers beat Golden Knights – Derby in LA and NY

The Edmonton Oilers with international Leon Draisaitl surprisingly beat the Vegas Golden Knights. The Oilers won the best team of the Western Conference 3:2 after extra time.

Draisaitl was involved in the decisive goal by Darnell Nurse. Team-mate Connor McDavid put on his 21. In 173 games, he has already collected 200 scorer points in 173 games. Oilers legend Wayne Gretzky and his former team rejoiced in the stands.

While the play-off places for Edmonton are still a long way off despite their second win, Draisaitt’s national team mate Tom Kühnhackl and the Pittsburgh Penguins are heading for the final round.

The defending champion won 4-1 against the Detroit Red Wings and climbed to eighth place at the Eastern Conference thanks to his third consecutive victory. Striker Kühnhackl remained in 9:42 minutes play time without goal participation.

In the New York city duel, the Islanders won the Rangers 7-2 without the German national players Thomas Greiss and Dennis Seidenberg. The Islanders (48) jumped up to ninth place in the east by their third consecutive Derby victory and to one point to the seventh ranked city rival.

There was also a derby on the west coast of the USA. In LA, the Anaheim Ducks surprisingly won their neighbor, the Los Angeles Kings, 4-2.
