Handball: DHB plans world record-breaking European Championship 2024 in Düsseldorf

With a world record attempt, the German Handball Federation (DHB) wants to win the contract for organizing the European Handball Championship 2024. The opening match will be played in the Düsseldorf Esprit Arena in front of 60,000 spectators. That would be a world record attendance for a handball game.

“We want to offer something special. Handball in the football stadium can be great,”DHB President Andreas Michelmann told Sport Bild. Germany has never played a men’s handball championship before.

Competitors are Denmark/Switzerland and Hungary/Slovakia. The EM 2024 will be organised by the European Handball Association EHF on 18. June in Glasgow.
