NBA: Celtics cancels plans for IT tribute:”Feeling guilty”

The Boston Celtics have decided not to release the tribute video for Isaiah Thomas as originally planned on 11 September. February. This day should belong exclusively to Paul Pierce.

Pierce, whose jersey was pulled under the ceiling in Boston that day, had asked for it, as he explained to ESPN:”Danny[Ainge] and I talked about it for 40 minutes”, Pierce said.”He said to me:’ If you don’t want it, we won’t do it.’ And I said,’ I really don’t want it.’ And that’s what the decision was all about.'”

Thomas thanked the Celtics on Tuesday via Twitter, but due to the “controversy” with Pierce he asked that the day should be dedicated to “The Truth” only. Thomas was on the 3. He had already visited Boston with the Cavaliers on 1 January, but since he could not play, he had asked for the tribute to be broadcast at a later date.

“Danny tried to sell it to me, but I said,’ He had his chance and he turned it down. He wanted to dictate everything.’ They got it done because they felt guilty after the trade. It’s guilt, nothing more.”

Ainge, President of Basketball Operations in Boston, told ESPN that the entire Celtics organization owes Pierce a lot of money and that he never planned to piss him off “After hearing his perspective, I understood it and talked to Isaiah about it. He understood too.”

It is not yet known whether Thomas will receive a tribute in Boston at a later date.
