NBA: Celtics legend JoJo White deceased at age 71
The League is grieving. Celtics legend JoJo White died at the age of 71. The Hall of Famer died of cancer.
“We are very sad about the death of the great JoJo White,”said the Boston Celtics in a press release,”He was a champion and a great man. He was incredibly talented in the field and always generous.”
White won the title with Celtics in 1974 and 1976 and was elected seven times to the All-Star team. In 1976 he was even awarded the MVP finals and won the gold medal at the Olympics with the USA.
Celtics chose the Guard ninth in the 1969 draft. White played in Boston for ten years before running for the Golden State Warriors and the Kansas City Kings at the end of his career. In 1981 White ended his career and a year later the Celtics moved his number 10 under the hall ceiling.
White played a total of 832 games in the NBA, where he played an average of 17.2 points, 4.9 assists and 4.0 rebounds.
