NFL: Patriots frightening second: Brady’s hand injured
Before the AFC Championship game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday (live from 9.05 p. m. with language selection on DAZN) there was a shock moment on Wednesday by Foxboro: Patriots quarterback Tom Brady suffered a not inconsiderable hand injury.
According to NFL network insider Ian Rapoport, Brady injured himself during training on the right hand – his throwing hand. So he accidentally collided with a fellow player and had to be x-rayed. According to Rapoport, no structural damage was found, it seems to be a problem Brady can play with.
The fact that something was wrong leaked to the public late on Wednesday evening (German time) when Brady’s planned press conference had to be cancelled at short notice. It is still unclear how serious the injury actually is – and whether Brady will have any restrictions in the duel with the Jaguars on Sunday.
Since Wednesday, on the other hand, it is clear that Malcolm Mitchell will no longer be playing this season. The Patriots receiver was not called into the active squad before the deadline, Mitchell is still struggling with knee problems. D-Liner Alan Branch (knee) as well as the Running Backs Rex Burkhead and Mike Gillislee (both knees) could train only limitedly.
