Olympia 2018: Resistance against Pence as head of delegation
The appointment of Donald Trump’s deputy Mike Pence as head of the U. S. delegation to the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang is met with opposition from the activists.
In an interview with the USAToday newspaper, figure skater Adam Rippon launched sharp attacks against the US vice-president over pence’s negative attitude to homosexuality.
“I don’t believe that the current administration represents the values I was taught as a child,”said Rippon:”As far as the great America is concerned, we are all different. Gay and competitive, 2018 is a part of today’s America.”
The homosexual Rippon attacked Pence for his pejorative testimony about gays and lesbians:”Mike Pence – that’s the Mike Pence, who has proposed financing therapies for homosexuals for conversion,”the 28-year-old mocked.
In protest, Rippon announced his boycott of the traditional meeting of U. S. Olympic delegates with their head of delegation before the opening ceremony of the Games. The World Cup sixth in 2016 had already cancelled his participation at the reception of the US Olympic Team in the White House after the Games.
Pence’s office rejected Rippon’s attacks:”These allegations are completely false and completely unfounded,” said his press office:”The Vice President is enthusiastic and is looking forward to supporting all the American activists in Pyeongchang.
