Handball European Championship: EHF initiates proceedings: Cervar makes things even more blatant

New momentum at the European Handball Championship: Croatia’s national coach Lino Cervar caused a sensation in the main round match against Belarus (25:23) on Thursday evening. The 67-year-old intervened 30 seconds before the end of the match by holding the Belarusian backroom player Artur Karvazki in his upper body from the edge of the field.

TV pictures prove that. The European association EHF informed the SID on Friday on request that it had initiated official proceedings against Cervar.

A few moments after Lino Cervar’s action left-hander Karvazki got the ball. Instead of equalising, he committed a forward foul. Croatia scored against the final score.

“I caught him by accident. It was accidental,”Cervar said to the scene that is making a big splash on social networks. It happened in the heat of battle,”Croatia kept their chances in the semi-finals by beating Belarus with a nervous defeat.
