MLB: Alex Rodriguez becomes TV expert for ESPN Sunday Night Baseball
Alex Rodriguez succeeds Aaron Boone as an expert on Sunday night baseball, the national flagship broadcast of US TV channel ESPN on Sunday evening. Boone left the station this winter and succeeded Joe Girardi as manager of the New York Yankees, Rodriguez’s former team.
As reported by the American SPOX partner site Sporting News, the multiple MVP of the American League takes the place next to expert Jessica Mendoza in the Sunday Night baseball team. Meanwhile, the search continues for a new commentator, after Dan Shulman had declared his farewell after many years in office.
However, rumours have it that Matt Vasgersian, who has worked for the MLB Network and Fox Sports so far, has the best chances of finding a job. In addition to his activities on TV, Vasgersian is also a commentator on “MLB 18: The Show”, the official video game of the MLB on Playstation.
The team also includes reporter Buster Olney, who will continue to report about the edge of the field.
Rodriguez will continue to work for Fox Sports, where he most recently worked as an expert in studio shows and selected game broadcasts. This is made possible by the takeover deal between Disney – ESPN’s parent company – and FOX, which also includes all regional Fox Sports branches.
